PAOLA VEZZOSI

Choreographer and dancer, she is the co-artistic director of ADARTE since its foundation. Her artistic training in contemporary dance techniques was marked by her encounter with Carolyn Carlson, who admitted her after an international audition at the Isola Danza Academy - Venice Biennale, where she studied with renowned international masters.

She began her career as a choreographer with productive projects and dance promotion in close collaboration with Carlson. She was admitted to assist in the rehearsals of Pina Bausch's Rough Cut in June 2006 at Théâtre de la Ville. During that time, she also attended classes with the Wuppertal Tanztheater dancers, under the guidance of master ballet Janet Panetta, further deepening her knowledge of German Tanztheater.

As a dancer, she worked for internationally acclaimed choreographers like Susanne Linke, a historical figure in German Tanztheater, and Urs Dietrich, the former artistic director of Tanztheater Bremen in Germany. Over the years, her frequent collaborations with renowned artists enriched her journey as an author and choreographer, leading her to present her creations in important festivals and theaters.

In 2009, she won the first prize in the choreographic competition "Danz'è" dedicated to new generation choreographers at the International Oriente Occidente Festival in Rovereto, with her solo piece "Penelope Canti d'attesa." Her choreographies have increasingly gained recognition, also within institutional environments. Many of her creations are co-produced by institutions such as the International Oriente Occidente Festival (Rovereto-TN), Elsinor Teatro Stabile, Innovazione (Milan), and find artistic residence regularly at Teatro Cantiere Florida in Florence and the National Dance Production Center Virgilio Sieni (Florence).

She has been commissioned as a choreographer by prestigious Italian Lyric Institutions and Theatrical Institutions such as the Arena di Verona Foundation, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Foundation, and Teatro della Pergola Foundation. She is the creator and artistic director of the Moving Stories Festival, a dance and literature festival inspired by authors or literary texts. The festival is produced by ADARTE in collaboration with various theatrical institutions like the Teatro della Toscana Foundation (Florence), Teatro delle Arti in Lastra a Signa (FI), and Compagnia degli Istanti (Florence).
